What to expect at a first appointment
On your
first visit to Heartsease Herbal Practice, Christina will
devote an hour to taking a full medical history, reviewing your
diet and lifestyle, and making any appropriate external
physical examination. You should expect at the least to
have your blood pressure and pulse taken. You will
already have been given a form on which to write down
any drugs you are taking and their dosages, as well as any
supplements and herbs. This enables Christina to prescribe
safely. You will have the opportunity to ask questions
and discuss treatments.
Christina may then make up a prescription in the adjacent
dispensary while you wait or send it through the post to
you. Your second appointment will be two weeks after the
date of starting the prescription to check that all is going
well. Follow-ups are half hour appointments.
If you need
further treatment, visits are generally at four or
six week intervals, depending on the need for monitoring
your condition. If you are to be on a prescription for
several weeks or months, your permission will be sought to
write to your GP so that they are aware of what you are
taking and any known possible interactions with drugs he
or she might prescribe. This is in the interest of
patient safety. It is also important to tell Christina
straight away if there is any change of medication
prescribed by your GP. |
